You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. ;-P
But yes, every time I write off the flat-earthers as one of those Internet Things I Don’t Understand, But Shouldn’t Take Seriously, they go and do something that flips it back to “Good God, I’m Living in Idiocracy.”

Oh, not at all. Rather, it’s a good way to introduce the physics and math involved to kids (and grown ups) who are learning about science. Instead of telling kids “the Earth is round because we’ve figured it out, trust us”, it tells them, “this is why we know the Earth is round.”
Better educated kids make better thinkers.

Yeah, excellent point.
There’s a great segment in Cosmos where Carl Sagan relates Eratosthenes ’ experiment proving not only that the Earth is round, but figured out the circumference within a few percent.
